Diversity Speaker Series
While working at VIPKid, I designed a quarterly speaker series for educators that was in alignment with VIPKid’s commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). The Diversity Speaker Series was a quarterly series of virtual events that provided teachers with opportunities to hear from unique perspectives and viewpoints, challenge personal paradigms, and celebrate diversity. Thought leaders and experts were invited to speak on a variety of topics that could include race, ethnicity, gender, identity, religion, age, veteran status, ability status, and social justice.
The goal of the series was to nurture an inclusive teacher community where everyone, regardless of race, ethnicity, ability, gender, sexual orientation, age, or other personal identity factors is welcomed and valued.
The first event featured Ilyassah Shabazz, daughter of Malcolm X and Dr. Betty Shabazz, and the second event featured Juju Chang, ABC Nightline's anchor.
